News About CHW Practice
NATIONAL AND LOCAL POLICIES
- *NEW!* September 29, 2025: MACHW testified at the State House in support of An Act relative to health equity and community health workers (H.359/S.251). The hearing went well, with many CHWs and advocates presenting in support of the bill. As Executive Director Lissette Blondet shared, “The profession is solid. Funding to pay its practitioners is not. Every year, CHWs face uncertainty about whether they will have a job.” While this is not yet a call to action, we want CHWs to know that MACHW has your back — and when the time comes, your voices will be essential. - March 2024: U.S. Senator Bob Casey of PA introduced the S.3892 Community Health Worker Access Act to improve local health workers ability to bridge gaps in health outcomes by improving Medicare coverage for their services.
- MACHW is one of the 274 CHW networks, employers, and public health organizations that signed on to show support for this proposed legislation.
