✨ Motivational Interviewing: 2-Day Immersive Training for Community Health Workers✨

Tuesday 5/12 and Wednesday 5/13 at 11:00am-12:00pm Via Zoom

Join us for a dynamic two-day immersive training designed specifically for Community Health Workers seeking to strengthen their communication, engagement, and behavior-change support skills. This interactive experience introduces and deepens core Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques that support individuals in exploring ambivalence, building intrinsic motivation, and making meaningful health and life changes.

Grounded in equity-centered and trauma-informed practice, this training recognizes the unique role CHWs play in building trust and fostering empowerment within communities. Participants will engage in hands-on learning through role play, case studies, reflective exercises, and real-world application relevant to community-based settings including healthcare navigation, behavioral health, chronic disease management, maternal health, and social determinants of health.

Participants will learn to:

  • Apply the core principles and spirit of Motivational Interviewing

  • Use open-ended questions, affirmations, reflections, and summaries (OARS) effectively

  • Navigate resistance and ambivalence with confidence

  • Support behavior changes without judgment or coercion

  • Strengthen trust-based relationships with clients and communities

  • Integrate MI into home visits, outreach, care coordination, and advocacy

This immersive training centers the lived experience and relational strengths of Community Health Workers, equipping participants with practical tools they can implement immediately in the field. By the end of the training, CHWs will leave with increased confidence, enhanced communication strategies, and a deeper understanding of how to support sustainable, client-driven change.
