Advocate for Statewide Infrastructure

Promote a Vision for Integrated Care & Health Equity in Massachusetts

MACHW community health workers work in in primary care, behavioral health, substance abuse, hospitals and community settings.  MACHW champions a holistic, ecological view of community health, raising awareness of the social determinants of health and highlighting the specific needs and strengths of multicultural communities. It advocates for strengthened integration between medical, behavioral and addiction recovery services, as well as between clinical and community-based services more broadly.

Public Policy Advocacy

MACHW staff and Board members are active at many policy tables that impact Community Health Workers, including issues related Health Care Reform legislation and policy, CHW Certification, and other health equity issues. MACHW holds a seat on the MA DPH Public Health Council, has four representatives on MA CHW Board of Certification, and plays a leading role in convening the NE Region Community Health Worker Collaborative.

Advocate for CHW Professional Development Infrastructure in MA

MACHW advocates for public investment in infrastructure to sustain training programs that enhance CHW professional development and expand the workforce.

CHW Policy Leadership Institute

Each Winter, Community Health Workers interested in becoming trained as policy leaders and advocates attend our annual CHW Policy Leadership Institute. Those who complete the training can be connected to Boards or Coalitions in their region who are seeking CHW representation.  Sign up as a MACHW member and you will automatically receive information about the CHW Policy Leadership Institute.

Match CHWs with Funding & Policy Boards and Coalitions
